Marie-Vic Ozouf-Marignier előadása közös kutatás eredménye, amely a „örökségközösség” jelenlegi fogalmának jelentését, valamint annak más európai nyelvekben – elsősorban franciában – való befogadását vizsgálja. Ez a fogalom kulcsszerepet játszik a mai örökségdiskurzusban, mivel az úgynevezett örökségközösséget az örökség fő letéteményeseként határozzák meg. Eredetileg elsősorban a szellemi kulturális örökségre vonatkozott, azonban az örökség különböző értelmezéseinek összefonódásával az örökségközösség minden poszt-AHD (autorizált örökségdiskurzuson túli) és alulról szerveződő örökségmeghatározás és -gyakorlat fő szereplőjévé vált. Mindazonáltal a fogalom közvetlen fordítása más nyelvekre korántsem egyértelmű, mivel a „community” szó látszólag logikus fordítása – mint a „communauté”, „comunidad”, „comunidade” vagy „comunità” – problémás, nem is beszélve azokról a nyelvekről, ahol még formai hasonlóság sincs. Az első előadás bemutatja, hogy e fogalom francia befogadása miért jelent kihívást, míg a második azt tárja fel, hogy miért terjedt el ez a kifejezés a nemzetközi örökségdiskurzusban, és hogyan vezetett egyfajta kettős beszédhez, amely a történeti kutatás számára is tanulságos.
Sonkoly Gábor a legújabb nemzetközi összefogással készült, nagyszabású európai várostörténeti szintézis, a Marteen Prak főszerkesztésében 2025-ben megjelent The Cambridge Urban History of Europe harmadik, Modern and Contemporary Europe című kötetének társszereksztője Dorothee Brantz mellett, amely az 1850-től napjainkig terjedő időszakot tárgyalja. Marie-Vic Ozouf-Marignier’s lecture presents the results of a joint research project examining the current meaning of the concept of the “heritage community,” as well as its reception in other European languages—primarily in French. This concept plays a key role in contemporary heritage discourse, as the so-called heritage community is defined as the principal custodian of heritage. Originally, it referred mainly to intangible cultural heritage; however, with the intertwining of different interpretations of heritage, the heritage community has become the main actor in all post-AHD (beyond Authorized Heritage Discourse) and bottom-up heritage definitions and practices.
Nevertheless, the direct translation of this concept into other languages is far from straightforward, as the seemingly logical equivalents of the word “community”—such as “communauté,” “comunidad,” “comunidade,” or “comunità”—are problematic, not to mention languages where even formal similarity is lacking. The first lecture demonstrates why the reception of this concept in French is challenging, while the second explores why this term has spread in international heritage discourse and how it has led to a kind of double discourse that is also instructive for historical research.
Gábor Sonkoly is the co-editor, alongside Dorothee Brantz, of the third volume Modern and Contemporary Europe of the large-scale, international synthesis The Cambridge Urban History of Europe, edited by Maarten Prak and published in 2025. This volume covers the period from 1850 to the present. Based on the experiences and lessons of this wide-ranging international collaboration, the lecture provides an overview of the current state of urban historiography, its main challenges, and its main directions.
